Diaspora

 

Estou lendo um livro intitulado “The Nepali Diaspora” de Dr. Valerie M Inchley e ali ela fala sobre os motivos que fazem os nepaleses emigrarem. Pobreza, desemprego ou apenas em busca de uma vida melhor, milhares de nepaleses deixaram seu país, suas famílias para buscarem alguma oportunidade em outro país. Muitos deles são explorados, e muitos morrem em países onde não existem condições seguras de trabalho.

Embora seja uma situação triste, muitos desses nepaleses acabam por conhecer cristãos nos países onde emigram e se convertem ao cristianismo e muitos deles voltam para trazer o evangelho a seu país, suas famílias.

Aqui em Portugal, quando chegamos em 2019, nos diziam que existiam certa de 20.000 nepaleses morando aqui. Ano passado, 5 anos depois, um artigo em um jornal já dizia que existiam cerca de 50.000. Temos que aproveitar esta oportunidade. E digo não só de alcançar os nepaleses, mas as diferentes nações representadas aqui. No bairro onde fica a igreja, existem mais de 90 nacionalidades vivendo lá. Precisamos de suas orações.

 

I am reading a book titled "The Nepali Diaspora" by Dr. Valerie M Inchley. She talks about the reasons that drive Nepalese people to emigrate. Poverty, unemployment, or simply in search of a better life—thousands of Nepalese have left their country and families to seek opportunities in other countries. Many of them are exploited, and many die in countries where there are no safe working conditions.

Although it is a sad situation, many of these Nepalese ends up meeting Christians in the countries they migrate to and convert to Christianity, and many of them return to bring the gospel to their country and families.

Here in Portugal, when we arrived in 2019, we were told there were about 20,000 Nepalese living here. Last year, 5 years later, an article in a newspaper stated that there were about 50,000. We must seize this opportunity. And I am not only talking about reaching out to the Nepalese but also to the different nations represented here. In the neighborhood where the church is located, there are more than 90 nationalities living there. We need your prayers.
